New Fortune Cookie
About This Spot
Stepping into New Fortune Cookie is like slipping into a quietly familiar corner of London where the hum of the city softens and the warmth of Cantonese tradition takes center stage. Nestled on Queensway, this Chinese restaurant carries a calm, easy rhythm that invites you to slow down and lean into a genuine dining experience without pretense. The atmosphere is unassuming but sincere — a gathering spot where families, friends, and solo diners come for honest flavors and friendly faces.
The pace here is thoughtful and relaxed, yet underpinned by the efficient familiarity of staff who know the menu inside out and seem to take genuine pleasure in sharing it. It feels less like a theatrical dining destination and more like a cherished neighborhood find where you’re quietly welcomed back each time.
There’s a sense of discovery in their approach to Cantonese classics — the kind of dishes where the care shows through in the balance of flavors and textures. Whether it’s the aromatic roast duck served with subtle soy sauce or the comforting warmth of house special soups, each plate hints at recipes handed down and mastered over time. Noodles arrive twirling with a mix of fresh seafood or tender meats, often embraced by crisp noodles or silky soft strands. The richness of black bean sauce lifts humble ingredients like beancurd into something quietly elegant, while a suitably sweet-tart pork dish reminds you why these flavors have long found a special place on London’s dining landscape.
The restaurant’s heart beats strongest when you share several dishes around the table — an unfolding story of contrasts and harmony that reveals itself gradually. It’s this communal, unhurried sharing that seems to unlock the full spirit of the place and leaves you feeling both comforted and connected.
New Fortune Cookie carries an inviting simplicity in its décor and mood that lets the food and friendly service take center stage. The staff’s polite attentiveness enhances a sense of ease, making it a quiet refuge from the busier, flashier spots nearby. It’s definitely a place to visit when you crave authenticity without fuss — an understated setting where the honest pleasure of a good meal lingers after the last bite.

The food, taste wise, was really good! Only it was already lukewarm when it arrived. I would advice to get the duck in soy sauce, amazing taste. You do need to order multiple dishes for it to be filling so it’ll be on the more expensive side per person.

I am Cantonese! It is the authentic Cantonese food! Much better than Chinese town’s! Highly recommended! Roast duck rank no.1 in my heart!

As I was in the mood for a light Chinese dinner, I went to this restaurant. I ordered the sweet and source pork with rice and a pot of Chinese tea. The sweet and sour pork was great but the rice was a bit soggy and did not pair well. Ambience and service were great. Best to go with 2 or 3 other people so that there can be more variety for your meal

Authentic Cantonese restaurant with such friendly and polite staff. The food was delicious with the Roast duck being the highlight of our meal… absolute demolished it before I could remember to take a picture. The steamed sea bass is also recommend! Worth a trip to try out the food from this establishment for sure! Thank you

Best Chinese in london. Absolutely authentic Hong Kong cuisine at great value! Everything is tasty, served very quickly with good wok hei, good portions and value. Highly recommend the roast bbq duck £18 which was crispy on the outside and good flavours and meaty on the inside. The crispy combination noodle £12 and sweet and sour pork £12 were also great. Service is friendly, quick. Restaurant is clean and love the free fortune cookie at the end of the meal !

The dishes were all brilliant, especially the duck. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed them. The service was attentive and fast, but the ambiance felt slightly disorganized.

The calamari is the best! I really enjoyed it, and the noodles, roasted duck, and grilled pork were also great. However, the sweet and sour soup was not to my taste. Overall, the quality and price were great. At the end of the meal, they served fortune cookies, which added a playful touch and tied into the restaurant’s theme. It was fun little surprise to wrap up a delightful meal
